In a further step to reduce waste, Lush is expanding its ‘naked’ store concept.

Lush’s third naked store opened in the UK in early 2019 joining stores in Germany and Italy, but what is a packaging free store? Naked products are not new to Lush, their already popular soap bars have been package-less for a while, but now Lush are perusing total package free products.

Further eliminating the need for packaging is the ‘Lush Lens’, an AI recognition tool that tells you the full ingredients of all products in store.

By not having unnecessary wrapping, this not only saves waste going to landfill, but an added advantage is the products are cheaper. This is a result of no packaging and reformulation in some cases, for which the production process is more cost effective.
